About

Hi, my name is Ryan. I founded Calculated Self with the mission of educating and empowering individuals to achieve financial freedom. I understand that financial success can seem like a daunting task, which is why I aim to provide people with the knowledge and tools they need to get started.

I’ve noticed that many friends and colleagues believe they must hire a “professional” to manage their money. However, this is far from the truth. Money managers and investors have conflicting desires, making it difficult for investors to earn a good rate of return. Unfortunately, many people are unaware of this and end up paying fees that wipe out potentially millions of dollars of profits. I want to bring awareness and debunk any misinformation that people may have, as managing your investments is quite easy, and taking control of your financial future is important.

I believe that everyone should be an investor, no matter their age or income. If you don’t commit to investing, you’ll certainly have a much more challenging time reaching financial freedom. I’m here to show you that anyone can invest and take control of their financial future.

As an entrepreneur, I understand the importance of managing finances effectively. I’m committed to sharing my knowledge and helping others achieve their financial goals. Remember, no one will care for your money the way you will. So let’s work together to take control of your financial future and achieve the financial freedom you deserve.

I’ll never forget the day I made my first stock purchase. I was only 12 years old, and my father had given me a stock slip to fill out for American Electric Power. I had no idea what I was doing, but I was determined to figure it out.

I wrote a personal check for $200 and sent it off by mail to purchase my first shares. It was a strange feeling, as most children my age never had a checkbook or knew how to write a check. But I was determined to learn more about investing.

The excitement I felt when I received my first statement with dividends paid was indescribable. I tore off the bottom and filled out the purchase slip to buy more shares. From that day on, I was hooked. I had a goal of buying as much stock as I could.

Every quarter, I eagerly awaited my statement, wondering how much my investments had grown. I loved the feeling of taking control of my financial future and making smart investment decisions. It was like a game to me, and I was determined to win.

As I grew older, my passion for investing only grew stronger. I began reading books, studying the markets, and talking to experts in the field. I knew that investing was something I wanted to pursue for the rest of my life.

Looking back on that first stock purchase, I’m amazed at how far I’ve come. But I’ll never forget the thrill of that moment and how it sparked a lifelong passion for investing. It just goes to show that you’re never too young to start building your financial future.

My passion for investing continued to guide me throughout my accounting education and led me to explore the world of entrepreneurship. Since that first stock purchase, I have owned businesses in various fields, including auto parts and recycling, professional medical offices, product manufacturing, and distribution.
